Well based upon my last post: Celebrities On Twitter I have been inspired to get back into Web Developing, this time specifically Websites designed to be used by Mobile Devices like the iPhone and similar phones.
This was at least partially because I joined “Twitter” and began following @TheReal_Jlh If you are a “Tweeter” that’s her user name! Follow her. While following her (following is a Twitter term I don’t actually stalk her) myself I noticed some of her followers got upset when she didn’t ever reply to their replies to her “Tweets”!

Obviously, they didn’t understand how “Twitter” actually works. Or they don’t get how most “Mobile” users actually use “Twitter”. Actually I don’t think most mobile “Tweeters” get it either because they are constantly inserting hyper-links in their “tweets” to full size websites which may not be easily viewed on all mobile devices or “Smart Phones”. I am not pointing fingers, because I linked to this Blog myself without considering how it may or may not render well in even the high end “Smart Phones”. Using JLH as an example, she like most mobile phone users, she uses an “App” (Short for Application), in her case “Echofon”, to “tweet” with. After sending her tweets, she like all people, turns the “App” off and goes on her way! Unless, she has set her “Twitter” mobile and notification settings to ring her phone every time “Everyone” mentions her user name in a tweet, which I am she she doesn’t. That would be crazy for anyone to do not just Celeb’s with 10′s of thousands of people who follow them! So 99 times out of 100, she or anyone else are not going to see or be able to retrieve every @Mention/@Reply sent to them.
Look at your own @Mentions list, how many tweets are in there? Well besides the fact that busy people don’t have time to sit down and review all of those tweets, I am sure there is a limit to how many are stored in the database a Twitter. It seriously cracks me up when I see how many people reply to every single of Jennifer’s tweets! Unless, they are people she follows, all those replies are just going into the her @mentions list. And there are dozens and dozens of people who reply to her every tweet! and no they are not on her follow list (last time I checked she only follows about 22 people, these are the ones who she wants to get tweets from ALL of the time)!
Now I have to be honest, I have actually seen Jennifer stay on and bounce back and forth between her timeline and her @Mentions, and actually responded to some of her fans! She is obviously a real nice person, Celeb or not! But give her a break, just cause she or any other person is a “Tweet-aholic” doesn’t mean they should give up their busy lives just to tweet basically strangers!
And just in case, hell freezes over and the statistically unlikely happens and Jennifer Love Hewitt herself reads this. Tweet me sometime! (Or use one of the buttons, top left panel). In fact, your safe, if you want to , cause I promise not to DM or @Mention/@Reply you like a crazy stalker! And to all others, your welcome to foll0w me too, but be forewarned, I am kinda boring!
